Learning & Development Program
If your child is bright but struggling to keep up, constantly overwhelmed, or working incredibly hard just to do everyday school tasks, there may be developmental foundations that need extra support.
Clinic-based support in Silverdale, Auckland, with personalised home support when appropriate.
BodyLink’s Learning & Development Program (Reflex Integration) is a structured, non-invasive approach designed to support the building blocks that sit underneath learning, coordination and regulation. The focus is practical: helping your child function with more ease, confidence and resilience.
Reflex integration refers to supporting the natural developmental reflex patterns that typically help babies and young children build strong foundations for movement, coordination, attention and regulation.
When some of these patterns haven’t integrated as smoothly as they could, children may still “get by”, but often at a cost: learning feels effortful, sitting still takes enormous energy, coordination is clunky, or emotions are harder to regulate.
We keep this simple in practice. We’re not here to overload you with theory. The point is to identify what’s most relevant for your child and support it in a step-by-step, developmentally informed way.
Who this program is for
This program may be a good fit for children who experience things like:
Learning and attention
- difficulty focusing or staying with a task
- inconsistent performance (can do it one day, can’t the next)
- slower processing or overwhelm in busy environments
- avoidance, shutdown or big emotions around schoolwork
Reading and writing
- reading fatigue or poor comprehension under pressure
- writing that is slow, effortful or messy
- trouble with spelling, copying, or organising thoughts on paper
Coordination and body awareness
- clumsiness, poor balance, awkward movement patterns
- difficulty with sport skills or playground confidence
- poor posture at a desk, low muscle tone, quick fatigue

You don’t need to see all of these. The initial appointment helps us clarify what’s most relevant and what support is likely to be helpful.
What your child may notice over time
Every child’s progress is unique. Our focus is on meaningful, real-world changes. Families often look for shifts such as:
- improved attention and learning stamina
- smoother emotional regulation and fewer meltdowns
- better coordination, balance and confidence in movement
- greater ease with reading and writing tasks
- improved resilience with school and daily routines
- less fatigue or overwhelm
Sometimes the changes show up quietly at first: mornings are easier, homework takes less effort, or your child seems more settled in their body.
What the program involves
This program is structured and personalised. While every plan differs, the process generally includes:
A clear starting point
We begin by identifying which patterns are most relevant for your child right now and what a realistic support plan looks like.
Clinic sessions
Your child attends regular sessions in our Silverdale clinic. We keep the experience calm, supportive and child-friendly.
Practical home support (when appropriate)
Many children benefit from simple, doable home exercises that reinforce what we’re working on in clinic. We keep these realistic for family life and adjust them as your child progresses.
Reassessments and progress check-ins
We don’t just “set and forget”. We review progress and refine the plan as your child develops at their own pace.
Important note: We’ll talk through what frequency and timeframes make sense after the initial appointment. We avoid one-size-fits-all recommendations.

What happens at the initial appointment
The first visit is about clarity & direction.
We’ll:
- talk through what’s been going on and what you want to improve
- explore relevant history and current stressors
- assess patterns that may be contributing
- explain what we think is most important (in plain language)
- recommend a plan and next steps
You'll leave with:
- a clear starting point
- an understanding of what support could look like
- the ability to choose your next step with confidence
Why families choose this approach
Parents often tell us they choose BodyLink because the experience is:
- calm and non-invasive
- structured, but flexible to the child
- practical for real life
- explained in everyday language
- focused on progress that shows up at home and school
We’re not trying to “fix” a child’s personality. We’re supporting foundations so your child has more capacity for learning, regulation and everyday functioning.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is this a tutoring program?
No. This is not tutoring. It’s a developmentally informed program that supports underlying foundations that can affect learning, coordination and regulation.
Do you diagnose ADHD, autism or learning disorders?
We don’t diagnose. We provide non-invasive wellbeing support and can work alongside your existing healthcare providers, therapists and educational supports.
How long does the program take?
It varies. Your child’s plan is tailored, and we’ll discuss a realistic timeframe after the initial appointment.
Will my child need to do exercises at home?
Sometimes, yes. If home support is recommended, we keep it simple, realistic and adjusted over time.
What ages do you work with?
We primarily support children through this program. If you’re unsure whether it’s right for your child’s age and needs, book an initial appointment and we’ll guide you.
